A week is certainly a long time in politics and the last month has seen major changes. We are going through interesting times and as a result my office is receiving a high volume of letters from constituents giving their views.
As your representative, this correspondence is extremely useful to me. It is always enjoyable for me to speak to constituents face-to-face during my visits and meetings around the constituency. Whilst national changes are underway, please be assured that I am continuing to work hard to represent our area.
AN issue I know is important to many people is proposed changes to community pharmacy funding. I recently met with local pharmacists to discuss this. We recognise how important community pharmacies are especially for more rural communities and I have made representations to the Government seeking clarification about proposed changes. It’s important that these services continue to benefit local communities.
It is obvious to me by the number of complaints received recently about vehicles parking causing obstruction and highway issues in general that these issues concern residents greatly. People using residential areas for long term parking is a real nuisance. There is nothing worse than a Cul-De-Sac being blocked with dozens of cars therefore, I have raised this at the highest level and met with the Chief Executive of DVLA. I also regularly raise issues about the condition of roads and pavements with the County Council.
People Over Wyre are quite rightly concerned about bus services, such as the lack of a direct service to Cleveleys. I continue to make representations to Service Providers to try to improve the situation and will keep you informed of progress. Do not hesitate to contact me with your views on this issue.
Turning to trains, many of you have been in touch to voice concerns about the lack of parking provision at Poulton Station. As a result a meeting with myself and Network Rail has taken place at the Great Eccleston Office. The need for additional parking for commuters and station users in Poulton was hammered home.
Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of judging the Stalmine-with-Staynall Residents’ Association Scarecrow Competition. There was a Royal theme and the standard was outstanding from Monty Don, King of Gardeners to the pop group Queen. It was a very enjoyable day and I would like to thank all who took part and the Association for asking me to judge the competition.
Our Gala Queens are something to be cherished and since being elected it has been an honour to host them in Parliament, the latest one to visit was Out Rawcliffe’s Gala Queen, Isobel Jenkinson who came down with her family. I hope they enjoyed their visit.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of my job is to travel around the Constituency and I do this at every opportunity. If you would like me to visit your business, school or event please do get in touch.
If I can be of any assistance to you please email me at [email protected] or write to me at: House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA. My Office at the House of Commons IS on 0207 219 5804, my Constituency Office on (01995) 672977.
